Friction Band Saw – Silicon Carbon Steel
DESCRIPTION
The Specialty Carbon Steel Friction blade is made with special silicon carbon steel. This helps the blade resist abrasion and extends its fatigue life. This blade is often used to manufacture other friction cutting blades.
What is friction cutting?
- Band saw blades run at high speeds (between 8,000 and 15,000 SFPM)
- Frictional heat allows the blade to burn or melt a material
- Saw teeth remove the molten metal from the workpiece
Friction cutting is often used to cut very thin or odd-shaped metals when conventional methods fail.
